G-AHS instrumentalists to perform concert

The annual Greencastle-Antrim High School Spring Band Concert will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 1, in the high school auditorium.

A prelude to the concert will consist of performances from the High School Brass and Flute Ensembles, under the direction of Aaron Griesser. Among the selections from the Flute Ensemble will be “Expresso”, “O Danny Boy”, “It Is Well With My Soul” and “Riverie in A Minor”. The last two pieces were arranged by one of the student members, Stephanie Gemmell. The Brass Ensemble will perform “Be Thou My Vision”, “A Patriotic Melody”, “Who's Got the Blues” and “Hymn of Axiom”.

The concert will open with a performance from the Jazz Rock Ensemble. Selections will be “Sir Duke”, “A Night in Tunisia”, “Take the ‘A’ Train”, “Oye Como Va”, “Birdland” and “Area 51”.

The 2016 G-AHS Winter Indoor Percussion Ensemble will perform its show titled Honor of the Samurai. The 2016 G-AHS Indoor Color Guard will follow with its show titled Shoulders.

The concert will conclude with the High School Concert Band and Fifth-Grade Band performing two combined selections. The High School Band will also perform several selections. The repertoire consists of “A Song for Peace”, “The Victors March”, “March of the Belgian Paratroopers”, “Pirates of the Caribbean”, “Dusk”, “Phantom of the Opera”, “Into the Storm” and “Kingsbridge Overture”.

Throughout the concert there will be awards presented to students for their achievements throughout the year.

The concert is free of charge, but a free-will donation will be collected at the conclusion of the concert.
