Road paving, patching and maintenance projects are planned in this spring and summer in Antrim Township.

“We wanted to keep you in the loop, as one or more of those projects may impact your travel,” Chris Ardinger, township administrator and roadmaster, said in an email.

"Just remember, a short-term inconvenience is worth the long-term convenience,” Ardinger said. “Please share this information with your neighbors as well.”

What’s planned?

Starting April 29, the Antrim Township Road Department will be assisting the contractor AAA Paving & Excavating with repaving Barr and McClanahan roads. The repaving on Barr Road is scheduled for the first and second weeks of May and work on McClanahan Road is planned for the third and fourth weeks. Repaving will consist of a leveling course and a wearing course. Paved and gravel driveways will be blended into the new road material for a smooth transition.

The contractor Russell Standard will start double chipping several roads – Pensinger Road, Marsh Road and JoAnn Drive – at the beginning of June.

The township will work with the contractor Ganoe Paving on patchwork across the township, in addition to regular seasonal maintenance.

What should you know?

If mailboxes or newspaper boxes need to be moved out of the right-of-way, the Antrim Township Road Department will help relocate them.

The approximate hours of the work will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Roads will be closed during paving, except for patchwork. However, residents, school buses vans and emergency vehicles will be given access.

Delays are anticipated, so please plan accordingly,” according to Ardinger.

“Use caution as personnel and vehicles will be working in the area,” he continued. “Please listen to the directions of the flaggers and paving personnel. Your patience is gratefully appreciated during this road improvement project period.”
