By now you’ve heard a lot of the arguments on how — or even if — to fund improvements to the Greencastle-Antrim School District athletic fields. More is written on this page and also the front page.

Citizens have certainly paid attention to the budget woes that the board of school directors are going through in 2011. Last year when the board raised property taxes 3.2 mills there was little to no citizen input.

Perhaps the swell of citizen interest is because this year the board is grappling with overused athletic fields and whether to put tax dollars toward their replacement and/or upkeep. It seems to be a subject that generates emotion and passion, and therefore everyone has a strong opinion.

We’re glad Greencastle-Antrim citizens are paying attention to what their elected officials are doing. Everyone working together is the way the community can best serve itself on this, and all, issues.

So be there at 6 p.m. in the middle school cafeteria Thursday, April 7. Listen to what others have to say and/or add your voice. And by all means, don’t stop now, stay involved.
